How DSL Works
DockPoint iXpress DSL provides high speed Internet Service via a state-of-the-art DSL Network. Unlike DSL resellers, DockPoint does not depend on the another provider's network. We support our own DSL network, connecting you to the Internet our way. Just like dial-up modems depend on copper phone lines for your connection, DSL relies on the existing telephone network to link you to the Internet. All of us have experienced poor dial-up connections that have been the direct cause of a poor ISP platform. DSL services are only as good as the network to which you connect! Resellers don't care how well your connection will work; they only care about commission.
A Cable/DSL Router set up externally from the Internet device at the customer's site, connects directly to our network through the DSL line. The network in turn is connected to a high-speed ATM connection to the Internet. The CPE between customer and the network is a proprietary configuration that uses authentication and encryption to protect against rogue users and attackers.
The customer connects to the Demarc Point via a standard CAT 5 Ethernet cable connected an Internet Device. The Customer Premise Equipment is an all inclusive unit with Power Supply, and DSL Noise Filters.
